Cost Accountant

Summary: Performs cost accounting for financial controls and financial reporting and analysis, planning and decision support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares and supports timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close and reporting.
Performs analysis for review with management including identification of trends, risks, and cost savings opportunities.
Implements adequate financial controls with proper documentation related to inventory and the manufacturing process, as well as monitoring and follow up, including tracking of corrective actions.
Maintains proper set up and controls regarding product costing including bill of materials, labor and overhead standard costs.
Supports proper set up, configuration and maintenance of ERP system especially as it related to inventory and manufacturing process.
Responsible for project controls - monitoring actual progress vs. project budget and timeline including Capital Project tracking & reconciliation.
Performs analysis, reconciliation and billing related to intercompany transactions.
Supports preparation of overall accounting close and reconciliations, including sales reporting, balance sheet and cash flow.
Supports business planning including preparation of budget and forecasts, prepares analysis and performance dashboard for business reviews.
Supports management in establishing and reporting of operational objectives and metrics to determine success of operation. Identifies issues, and advises management on action plans and operational strategies to resolve.
Prepares and analyzes performance metrics, including daily/weekly/monthly tracking of production performance.
Explains manufacturing variance and income statement variances provide decision support.
Monitors productivity and cost efficiencies to drive productivity optimization.
Reinforces company policies and adheres to all company standards, maintains and inspects for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Skills:
Computer Skills: Excel (advanced proficiency ? pivot tables, VLookup and macros), Access, Business Objects, manufacturing ERP application.
Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IFRS
Ability to communicate effectively with management, accounting staff and co-workers.
Ability to work independently, and with a group, on various on-going projects simultaneously
Ability to work accurately and dependably in a fast-paced environment.
Highly motivated and performance driven
Demonstrated ability to influence others and drive for results
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required with 8 years of experience, including 5 years experience in manufacturing context.
CPA a plus
Up to 10% travel required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
