Supplier Development Engineer (14082)

Position Summary:
Knorr-Bremse PowerTech USA is located in Mount Olive, NJ and manufactures power electronics equipment for rail vehicles, in particular low-voltage auxiliary power supplies, battery chargers and inverters. We are looking for a qualified Supplier Development Engineer to support our suppliers with our new projects.
This position is responsible for supplier quality systems/manufacturing capability assessment and on-going performance improvement of suppliers in terms of quality, delivery, continuous improvement and operational alignment with the PowerTech organization.
Essential Functions:
Ensure supplier processes are capable of achieving required quality & capacity levels.
Perform supplier capability assessments as related to quality systems, process controls, manufacturing capabilities, and lean principles including 5S. Work closely with suppliers to plan and implement appropriate and timely corrective actions.
Train suppliers in the deployment of quality systems tools and Continuous Improvement. Educate suppliers in PowerTech internal KPS processes to achieve optimal alignment with the PowerTech manufacturing, supply chain and engineering organization.
Provide hands-on support for the suppliers' production.
Lead internal 8D problem solving team related to defective purchase components. Work closely with suppliers, PowerTech manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain organization in root cause analysis, timely containment and permanent corrective action implementations.
Support and lead process improvement activities with suppliers which will lead to improved efficiency, lead time reduction, quality & delivery improvement and cost reductions.
Work as liaison between suppliers and internal functions (Engineering, Operations, etc.) to clarify requirements / engineering changes, eliminate misunderstandings, and improve definition of requirements.
Required Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing engineering, quality and/or supplier development
Knowledge of quality standards and tools (PFMEA, 8D, 5why, ISO, etc.)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Willingness to travel (up to 90% - mainly NJ / NY)
Inquisitive mindset, organizational, communication, leading & teaching skills
Excellent analytical problem solving abilities
Ability, desire to provide "hands on" floor support
Demonstrated ability to understand, support and lead change in an innovative environment
A bias for action with dedication and commitment to achieving World Class status
Strong goal attainment orientation with team focus; strong team spirit
Self-starter, possessing high degree of self-motivation
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution
Masters of Science degree from an accredited institution
Minimum 3 years' experience in Project Management
Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Experience with ERP systems, preferable SAP
Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black-Belt
Bilingual in English/German

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
